Netflix TV Box – Are Movie Downloads the Furture?

Are Movie Downloads A Better Choice?

If you compare the movie retrieval process today to what it was like 15 years ago, there are a lot of improvements and changes. Back then, if you wanted to buy a movie, you had to go to the store and buy a VHS tape. If you wanted to rent a movie, you had to go to a rental store and rent a VHS tape for a couple of days and then return it. There were very few options. Also, if the rental store didn’t have the movie, you couldn’t watch it, and there were plenty of movies the rental store didn’t have.

Today there are so many different choices. VHS tapes are no longer the way to go. Now we watch DVDs. If you want to buy a DVD, you can go to the store or shop online. You can also find many older movies that are now available on DVD. If you want to rent a DVD, you can go to the rental store, which is usually just blockbuster. I doubt you could find many if any of the old mom and pop rental stores that use to make up the majority of rental stores. You can rent them from Blockbuster and keep them for a while longer. They say there are no late fees, but if you keep a DVD for too long, they will just charge you for the DVD.

roku netflix reviewAnother choice in renting is through Netflix or Blockbusters mail order process. You can subscribe to the program of either company, pay a monthly fee, receive DVDs in the mail, and mail them back when you are finished. When they receive the DVD you mailed back, they will send the next movie on your list. You can subscribe to get 1 DVD at a time, 2 at a time, or more. Blockbuster even allows you to return the DVD right to the store if you want. This is a great option for those who don’t want to have to drive out to the rental store all the time.

One problem with this type of renting is that if you only want to rent a movie on occasion, you have to wait for it to come in the mail, or if you don’t have any movies you feel like watching, you get sent a movie your not interested in and still have to pay the bill. This is where another renting option comes in, movie downloading. With programs like Cinema Now, you can download any movie you want that is available at your convenience. You don’t have to wait for it to come in the mail and you don’t have to drive anywhere to get it.

Are movie downloads a better choice? They are for a certain person. If you like to watch movies at your disposal, don’t like waiting for the mail or driving anywhere, and watch movies a lot, getting a service like this is great. If you don’t rent movies often, you can still rent downloads from Amazon only when you want to. If you are interested in learning more about either of these services, click the link below.

How Should You Rent A Movie?

Renting a movie used to be simple. You drive to the rental shop, pick out a movie, pay the rental fee, take it home, watch it, and bring it back. Now it is not so simple. But that’s not a bad thing! It’s more complicated but that’s because there are more choices and better offers. Find out how you can win big from the new choices available.

You can still rent the old-fashioned way. Blockbuster still has stores everywhere that you can go to and pick up the latest flicks. If you rent a movie about 3 times a year, this is probably the best way for you. If you still love blockbuster but are moving on, move on with them. They now offer a very flexible mail service. You can sign up with a monthly fee. They will mail you the movies you want. With some plans, you can even exchange them for movies in-store, or you can drop them off to get new ones in the mail faster.

Netflix is also a movie by mail service. You can sign up and receive up to four movies at a time. You keep a list on their website and they will send you those at the top of the list. Once you are finished, you just mail them back and they will send the next ones. This is a good alternative to Blockbuster if you want more movies at a time. You can get a maximum of 4 movies at a time with Neflix but only 3 at a time with blockbuster.

netflix canadaIf you aren’t interested in movies by mail but want them faster, you can rent them by downloading. Services such as Cinema Now and Amazon’s Unbox service allow you to download movies and watch them as often as you want within a certain time frame. It is cheaper than downloading the movie to keep, but it’s faster then renting from a store or through the mail. You can watch them on your computer, or if you can connect your computer to your television screen you can watch it on there. Downloading is the fastest way because it is instant, although you can’t keep it for as long as you want.

There are ups and downs to each type of service. Though one down for one person might not be a big deal to someone else. For example, someone might see downloading as not worth it because they can only watch it on their computer while someone who can connect their computer to the screen doesn’t see it as a big deal. Also, someone might find it a hassle to have to send back movies through the mail and wait while someone else who doesn’t watch movies that often would rather wait and have some time in between anyway.

How should you rent a movie? It all depends on your preferences. Choose the service that is right for you. You can even give each a try and see which you like best. For more information about these services or if you want to sign up now, check out the link in the author bio below.

Netflix Teaches Hollywood The ‘everyone’ Myth

We all know what happens when companies try to position their latest greatest new product as that something for everyone:

Despite all the hoopla, everyone just won’t cooperate. I.e. they don’t buy. Happens in the movie business, too.

The New York Times reports:

"While the studios spend their energy promoting…blockbusters aimed at everyone, Netflix has been catering to what people really want — and helping to keep Hollywood profitable in the process."

Americans have VERY different tastes. There’s nothing for everyone. Or even, most everyone. To prove it, the owner of Netflix posed this question:

Of the 60,000 titles Netflix has on DVD, how many do you think are rented at least once on a typical day?

Those who think that everyone likes the same movies guess low – 1,000, say.

But this is not even close to the real story. Americans are broken up into many little market slivers…Netflix owner Reed Hastings reports:

"35,000 – 40,000 [different] titles are rented out at least once on a typical day."

Talk about the non-existence of ‘everyone’ from the movies perspective.

netflix tv boxSo, yes, find people like you. The community of like-minded people that you’re already part of. E.g. you might be someone who knows you need nutritional supplements because there’s not enough nutrition in the food we eat anymore, even if it is organic. So you ask for those people, with that worldview. Huge market. Includes me.

Kind of like finding people to play tennis with – don’t you look for the ones who already play? Or inviting friends over for a night of movies. For that special Netflix movie you just rented, don’t you pick just the ones who you know will enjoy watching it?

We are not all the same. Sounds obvious, doesn’t it?

Companies: Get over it. Everyone will not go nuts about your latest new products or that new division. Only SOME will. Let reps focus on the products that turn THEM on. Stop acting like they should market your entire product line. They’re not a department store. Let them market the products THEY love to others.

Reps: If you have babies, encourage them to lead with the products THEY are excited about. Skip the rest for now. And for yourself, market the one or two that matter most to you – where you have an authentic story to tell others. Why else would anyone else give you ear?

Remember – after someone else likes your favorite product too, you can count on them to ask you the orgasmic question: "What else do you have?"

So let’s get over everyone, think?

After all, even Ford Motor finally did.
